IBE Student Essay Contest Rules
1. The Idaho Book Extravaganza (IBE) Student Essay Contest is open to all Idaho students ages 13-18.
2. Essays should be 300-500 words in response to one of the three Idaho Book Extravaganza Essay questions as listed below.
3. Include your name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, grade, and age on the top left of the same document as your essay.
4. Please submit your completed essay in either a .doc., docx, or .pdf file format.
5. Entries may be submitted via email or mailed through USPS.
Email to: IdahoBookExtravaganza@gmail.com Emailed entries must be received by 12:00 midnight on Friday October 14, 2011.
Mail to: Banner Bank Building, 950 W Bannock St, Suite 1100 Boise, ID 83702 Mailed entries must be postmarked by October 13, 2011.
6. Please, only one essay per person. Additional submissions will not be accepted and you will be disqualified.
7. Entries will be judged on;
•Originality
•Clear expression of ideas
•Usage of grammar
•Understanding of essay topic
8. By submitting your essay to the Idaho Book Extravaganza, you are allowing IBE to use your essay in its entirety, or excerpts of essays, for future advertizing and marketing purposes.
9. Entries will be accepted in English only.
Essay Topics: Select only one of the following
Topic 1: Every author has an internal set of principles that they refuse to cross in their writing. If you were an author what would your standard be and why?
Topic 2: Do you see yourself writing as a future career, why or why not would you write for a living verse writing for fun? What are some career options you have as a writer?
Topic 3: What is your favorite piece you have ever written, (include topic and format, essay, story, poem etc) Why/how did it have an impact on you?
Prizes
Winners will be announced at the Idaho Book Extravaganza at 12:00 pm. Need not be present to win. Winners will be contact by email after the show and prizes will need to be picked up. Idaho Book Extravaganza will not mail prizes to non-attending winners.
Grand Prize Winner—90 minute consultation with Publisher, Author and Publicist. Essay featured on Stone House Inklings Blog and Idaho Book Extravaganza’s website and social media platforms. $50 Amazon gift card.
1st Place Winner—60 minute consultation with published author. Essay featured on Stone House Inklings Blog and Idaho Book Extravaganza’s website and social media platforms. $30 Amazon gift card.
